Meet the Instructors

Jennifer Braddock

A career as a camera technician in film and television brought Jennifer to Atlanta in December of 2014. She made her first trip to Ellijay the following summer and immediately fell in love. Because her job is both physically and mentally demanding, she has found cycling to be a great form of therapy. When she’s on her bike she is in her “happy place,” especially when she is in Ellijay, which she considers her home away from home. Jen has been riding bikes for about 15 years and she rides pretty much every discipline; you’ll find her on the road, the pump track, the gravel, the single track or at the bike park…what attracts her about being on a bike is the freedom to explore and get rad. Bikes are her addiction and she prefers to keep it fun - she really loves to slow down to take in the scenery.

Jennifer serves on the executive board for MTB Atlanta (SORBA) and takes pride in trail building and maintenance. She is certified with the Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association (PMBIA) and is a coach for the Gilmer Cartecay Youth Mountain Bike Team with the Georgia Cycling Association. "Riding is one thing, but becoming engaged and giving back truly puts you in the mountain bike community."

Dondi Fontenot

Dondi is originally from Louisiana where he was a BMXer growing up. “When I was kid, bikes were the ticket to independence and freedom.” He started riding the trails in North Georgia in the mid ‘90s. Dondi lived in Colorado and Western North Carolina and had the chance to try a lot of different trails and terrain. Though a graphic designer by trade, the gravitational pull to bikes is strong. Dondi worked for RockShox/SRAM and eventually became owner of the Cartecay Bike Shop with his friend, Ben.

“Our classes can be matched for beginners to intermediate riders looking to reach the next level. You’ll get personalized instruction on mountain bike techniques in ascending, descending, shifting and maneuvering around obstacles. We can do a one-to-one class or a small group class. Either way, we’ll make it fun!”
